ATHENA Leadership Award® Nominees must meet each of the following three criteria:

  • Have achieved the highest level of professional excellence.

  • Contribute time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.

  • Actively assist others, particularly women, in realizing their full leadership potential.



ATHENA Leadership Award® Nominees, male or female, may represent either the profit or not-for-profit sector and must work or live in Washington County.

  • Previous ATHENA Leadership Award® Recipients are not eligible for nomination, however past nominees may be nominated again.

  • There is no minimum or maximum age qualification that must be met by ATHENA Leadership Award® Nominees.


  • While submitting the application you will be asked to support the above criteria with examples.  We encourage you to offer stories as examples as opposed to an outline (or resume).  Please be prepared to provide specific examples on the following questions:

  1. How has the Nominee advanced in their professional career?

  2. How has the Nominee provided service to the community?

  3. How has the Nominee assisted women in their professional development and/or achieve their full leadership potential?

  • You are encouraged to work closely with your nominee to complete their nomination.

  • Nominations for the ATHENA Leadership Award® must be submitted using this nomination form and format.

  • You may include three additional pages of supporting documents (articles, testimonials, etc) with your completed nomination form.

Deadline for application submissions is Friday, March 18, 2022 by 4:00 p.m.


A Selection Committee, made up of a diverse group of community leaders, will review all nominations and select the ATHENA Leadership Award® Recipient.  The Recipient will be announced on: 

May 5, 2022

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Hilton Garden Inn, Pittsburgh/Southpointe

The Recipient must be in attendance to receive the award.
